Each bakery product needs something different from its box. A tall celebration cake needs headroom, cupcakes need to be held apart, and pastries need a flat base that won’t flex. These are the formats UK bakeries order most.
Cakes need enough depth to keep the lid clear of piping and toppings, and a base strong enough for the cake board. Our custom cake boxes are made to the size of the cake on its board. For heavier or multi-tier cakes, choose rigid corrugated board.
Cupcakes slide into each other and smudge their frosting if they aren’t held in place. Bakery boxes with inserts have a die-cut cavity for each cake, in single, four, six, or twelve-cake layouts. Muffins have a domed top rather than piped frosting, so muffin boxes can usually be shallower and work well as single or twin packs.
Croissants, Danish pastries and tarts need a rigid, flat base and a quick-closing lid for busy counter service. Custom pastry boxes are available as single-portion boxes or larger sharing boxes, with or without a window.

Measure the finished product on its cake board or cupcake case, including the tallest point of any decoration. Then allow a small clearance on each side so the item can be lifted out without catching.

If you pack food before the customer orders it, UK prepacked for direct sale (PPDS) rules require a label with full ingredients and allergens. Leave a plain or light-coloured panel in your design so the label stays clear and readable.
Bakery boxes can be printed in full-colour CMYK or matched to your exact brand colours with Pantone (PMS) printing. You can print the outside, the inside or both. Printing the inside of the lid is a good place for a thank-you message, social handles or reheating and storage advice.

On brown kraft board, colours print darker and less vivid than on white board. Kraft works best with one or two strong colours and a simple logo, while white board suits full-colour artwork.

Kraft and cardboard bakery boxes are recyclable, and we use water-based inks and glues. To keep your boxes as easy to recycle as possible, choose an uncoated or lightly coated board and avoid plastic lamination where you can. Plastic windows and heavy laminates can make recycling harder, so let us know if recyclability matters more to you than a high-gloss finish.
